Holiday Events Guide 2023

The festive period brings peak travel rates, increased family travel, and unpredictable weather conditions, resulting in higher expectations in both quality and quantity of offerings and communications.

Project Objectives:

  • Elevated Print Collateral: Upgrade printer-paper printout collateral to meet the heightened expectations of the peak season.

  • Streamlined Communications: Compile accurate information to increase service efficiency at key guest touchpoint areas.

Steps & Execution:

  • Data Collection: Acquire details, hours, and schedules of events from pertinent departments including Food & Beverage, Spa, Recreation, and Community Association

  • Print Procurement: Gather print quotes and paper/binding samples from local and regional printers

  • Design & Production: Curate engaging imagery, layout and write copy, format hours in a consistent and readable format. Finalize the design with feedback and proofing from key departments and prepare files for printing

Alpine Hall - Menu Redesigns

Opened in 2021, Alpine Hall utilized menus provided by the agency hired to brand and successfully launch the new outlet. After multiple seasons of refining service, cuisine, and atmosphere a new visual approach was desired to properly represent the year-round restaurant.

Project Objectives:

  • Upgrade the visual design to better reflect the “brassiere” atmosphere and culinary offerings, and highlight signature dishes and specials offered throughout the season

  • Sustainability: Decrease the number of menus needed throughout the day by combining the main service periods of lunch and dinner into one page

Steps & Execution:

  • Collaboration: Meet with Executive Chef, and Director of Food & Beverage to understand their creative visions and gather updated menu selections and pricing details. Present visual samples sourced online to guide discussions and align on design direction.

  • Visual Exploration: Experiment with various layouts and text formats to explore different visual approaches based on samples provided

  • Menu Refinenment: Formalize design of Lunch/Dinner menu based on feedback from departmental teams. Extract key visual elements from approved design to redesign matching breakfast, dessert, and drink menus.

Diversi-tree Pin

Following a local tragedy, the Spruce Peak Grounds team planted a “Diversi-tree” to represent and celebrate our community’s diversity. This single apple tree, grafted to grow three varieties of apples, stands proudly in the plaza. Leading this project inspired me to join and eventually become Co-Chair to our diversity and recognition committees.

Project Objectives:

  • To craft a memento of the Diversi-tree to provide to staff, colleagues, and the community in recognition of how our diversity inspires strength

Steps & Execution:

  • Research and Development: After meeting with the HR team to discuss wanting to purchase pins, I researched similar designs for enamel pins available online. When no pin met our vision, I shifted focus to researching pin manufacturing companies and mocked up designs for internal voting.

  • Production: With the winning design finalized and approved, I worked with an online pin manufacturer to order a bulk of our custom pins, which were distributed at the unveiling of the Diversi-tree and provided to new hires at orientation.
